Choosing Between Shave Or Spray Tans

Spray tans

The Bronzery spray tanning service has gotten pretty popular over the last few years, and for a good reason. People want to have their bodies tanned as quickly and as safely as possible. And there is little question about the effectiveness of spray-on tanning. It works wonders on dried or flaky skin and gives your skin the golden, natural tones of tanned skin that you can’t get with fake tanning lotions or sprays.

However, there is an unfortunate side effect to spray tanning, and it’s called sunburn. Many people are allergic to the sun’s UV rays, and getting sunburnt can be very painful and cause temporary damage to some types of skin. Two factors cause this effect. The first is that the tanner (or self-tanning spray) contains the chemicals that give you the tan. The second is that tanners are exposed to the sun for a longer period than they might prefer.

Most tanning beds will allow you to sit in the tanning bed for only ten or fifteen minutes at a time. But for every fifteen minutes you spend inside the bed, you are exposing yourself to nearly two hours of harmful sunlight. How much more exposure can your skin to be exposed to without endangering your health? And if you are using a spray tan, then the answer is: A lot.

Sunburn is not the only danger of sunbathing. There is also damage to your skin from the sun’s UV rays. The overexposure can lead to the formation of wrinkles, age spots, dryness, inflammation, dry lips, rough, brittle hair, dry skin, thickened or torn hair, as well as other serious conditions. Self-tanning sprays contain DHA, or dihydroxyacetone, which reacts with the body’s skin to give out that natural looking color. It actually works faster than the sun at times but still doesn’t give you the color of the real thing. Tanners who don’t get enough of the sun are at risk for skin cancer, too.

So how do you achieve that healthy glow without exposing your body to unnecessary dangers? Just use tanning products that contain healthy glow-making ingredients like amino acids, which work on strengthening and moisturizing the skin. That way, when your body needs those nutrients, it can receive them. Some popular spray tans contain vitamins A, D, E, and K. These vitamins block harmful free radicals from damaging your skin, causing signs of aging, wrinkling, or sagging. They also help to protect your skin from further damage by boosting its immune system.

You can’t stop the sun’s rays, but you can still slow them down. To do this, you need to apply a good quality skincare product that contains anti-aging ingredients like retinol and vitamin C. These compounds exfoliate dead skin cells, preventing them from clogging pores and promoting inflammation. If you want to experience a true healthy glow, look for products that also contain beta carotene, another powerful antioxidant. Long-term sun exposure causes wrinkles and signs of aging to form. By making these compounds more effective, spray tans allow your skincare products to protect you from the effects of long-term sun exposure.

Another ingredient to look for is fragrance. Most products have been clinically proven to improve concentration, focus, and clarity of the brain, so look for ones that contain ginkgo Biloba. This herb has been used for centuries in Eastern cultures because of its benefits to the brain. It’s also one of the strongest antioxidants you can find. Nowadays, many products contain this powerful antioxidant along with a host of other healthy ingredients, so pay close attention to the list of ingredients when shopping for spray tans.

Last but not least, look for a moisturizer. The active ingredient in most spray tans is dihydroxyacetone, which can damage dry skin. If your skin already has fine lines and wrinkles, using a moisturizer will prevent premature wrinkles and help you avoid dryness. Look for products that contain natural moisturizers like grapeseed oil or active ingredients like active manuka honey.
